The 64th "Advanced Workshop on Designand Application of Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Power Supplies", sponsoredby China Power Supply Society and organized by Hefei University of Technology,was successfully held from July 22 to 23, 2023 at the Academic ConferenceCenter of Hefei University of Technology, Tunxi Road Campus.

Since 2014, a series of workshops onphotovoltaic and energy storage systems has been organized by China PowerSupply Society (CPSS), New Energy Power Conversion Technology Committee ofCPSS, and Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), which has been held for eighttimes so far, and has been widely recognized by the industry. Based on thesuccess of the previous seminars, this seminar comprehensively interprets thenew technologies and trends from the perspective of the current new trends anddevelopment of photovoltaic, energy storage and other new energy technologiesto promote the development of photovoltaic and energy storage industries. Theevent attracted more than ninety scholars from home and abroad, and eightteachers gave technical lectures.

Dr. Jun Xu, Vice President of CentralResearch Institute of Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd, gave a lecture titled"Current Situation and Development Trend of Optical Storage IndustryTechnology". On the one hand, Dr. Xu Jun introduced the current situationand trend of global new energy development, and on the other hand, combinedwith the current situation of YangGuang Power, he introduced the researchstatus, application scenarios, and future development potential of opticalstorage system, renewable energy flexible hydrogen system, and 35kVmedium-voltage direct-mounted photovoltaic inverters.

Mr. Liu Chang from Prof. Cai Xu's team ofShanghai Jiaotong University gave a lecture on "High-voltageLarge-capacity Battery Energy Storage Integration Technology". Mr. Liutook the evolution of power electronic topology of high voltage and largecapacity energy storage integration as the starting point, introduced thesystem control, detection and parameter design methods in detail, and graduallyexpanded to the integration of self-synchronous voltage source of energystorage and SVG and safe operation control, and finally demonstrated thecurrent status of the application of high voltage and large capacity energystorage by combining with some application projects.

Dr. Bo Zhao from State Grid ZhejiangElectric Power Co., Ltd. gave a lecture entitled "Key Technology andEngineering Application of Electricity-Hydrogen Coupling Based on RenewableEnergy". Dr. Zhao firstly introduced the advantages and characteristics ofhydrogen energy, clarified the status of hydrogen energy in the future, andthen expanded to the development of key technologies of hydrogen production,and finally combined with the layout of hydrogen energy of Zhejiang ElectricPower Company as well as the current work accomplished, he provided somethoughts on the future development of hydrogen energy in China.

Dr. Li Guanghui from China Electric PowerResearch Institute gave a lecture on "Analysis and Suppression ofBroadband Oscillations in New Energy Grid-Connected Systems". Dr. LiGuanghui introduced the engineering background of this course by combining somenew energy grid-connected oscillation accidents occurred frequently at home andabroad, and then analyzed the mechanism of grid-connected oscillation throughthe small-signal modeling of various converters and suppressed the new energygrid-connected oscillation through the impedance reshaping, and finally, Dr. Lipointed out that all units in the new energy industry need to furtheraccelerate the standardization of power electronic equipment control structureresearch and the development of standards related to grid-connected operation.Finally, Dr. Li Guanghui pointed out that all units in the new energy industryneed to further accelerate the standardization of the control structure ofpower electronic equipment and the development of standards related to gridoperation.

Researcher Zhang Junjun from the New EnergyResearch Center of China Electric Power Research Institute gave a lecturetitled "The Latest Development Trend and Application of China's PV EnergyStorage Grid-Connected Standards". Researcher Zhang Junjun explained therelevant standards and technical requirements for energy storage converters,which aroused heated discussions among the participants.

Prof. Hongliang Wang from Hunan Universitygave a lecture on "Topologies of Optical Storage Converters and Researchand Trends in Primary Energy Conversion Technologies". Prof. Wang gave athought on the evolution of the basic topology of power electronics and introducedthe topology evolution of single-phase inverters, three-phase inverters,isolated DC/DC converters, and multilevel rectifiers.

Prof. Ma Mingyao from Hefei University ofTechnology gave a lecture titled "Data-driven Intelligent Fine FaultDiagnosis Technology of PV Power Station", Prof. Ma Mingyao introduced thecommon faults and operation and maintenance methods of PV system in the contextof the current engineering background, and proposed the fine fault diagnosis ofmodules and strings based on I-V data, and lastly introduced the fine faultdiagnosis of strings based on the time series data.

Finally, Prof. Zhang Xing from HefeiUniversity of Technology gave a lecture on "Analysis of grid-type controlscheme for high permeability new energy generation". Firstly, Prof. ZhangXing explained the research background of grid-type inverter, and then combinedwith the latest research results, he introduced various grid-type invertercontrol methods, such as improved active ring grid control, virtualconductor-based grid control, DC voltage synchronous grid control, virtualoscillator grid control, etc. Finally, Prof. Zhang pointed out that the controlmethods of grid-type inverter are very simple and easy to use, and they can beapplied to all kinds of power generation systems. Finally, Mr. Zhang pointedout. With the further increase of new energy penetration, the frequencyfluctuation will be further emphasized, and the grid control will play agreater role for the gradual increase of new energy share.

Through the mode of systematic explanationand seminar interaction by experts, this workshop is highly relevant and instructiveto the work of the trainees, and enhances their ability to analyze and solveproblems in their actual work.
